Biography

Charlotte qualified at Aberystwyth in 2001 and wrote her dissertation on antiquarian sources in Herefordshire. She has since worked at a wide range of English, Welsh and Scottish archives and is now Head of Collections Services, National Museums Scotland.

Charlotte has particular interests in palaeography and traditional skills and has taught for the WEA and the University of Oxford (Continuing Education), as well as now at Dundee as a tutor. She is also a dissertation supervisor.

Charlotte is an experienced mentor and assessor of the ARA's Professional Development Programme and is a fellow of the ARA, Society of Antiquaries of London and the Royal Historical Society. She is also an external examiner at UCL, and Secretary of the ARA's Section for Archives and Museums which she founded in 2019. Charlotte's PhD in modern British publishing archives was completed part-time at the University of Edinburgh whilst working full-time from 2007-2013. Her first degree was in German, Danish and English Language.
