About

Profile shot of Angie Strachan

My work distinguishes itself by the sense of nostalgia, the memories we make, and the connections to our past, which centres on preserving a special memory or location.  I am influenced by the potential of meaningful connections between the jewellery and the wearer.

Nature and its surroundings have been a constant source of inspiration for me where I have explored and discovered various forms and textures allowing me to encapsulate its beauty in the jewellery I make. I am able to capture special moments in time through the use of observational sketches, photography, and the use of imprints.
While designing my collection of work I was inspired by the fact that rings should be allowed to be worn in multiple ways. I have designed my square and hollow rings to be worn in ways that express sentiments to the wearer.

Within my collection, I have used traditional techniques including lost wax casting where I have utilised the use of my imprints allowing me to accentuate these textures with the application of oxidisation and keum- boo.

I see my work as a form of storytelling that creates an emotional connection to the wearer and I would like it to carry a piece of history to future generations.
