Transcendental Abstraction

About

Profile photo of Bryony Young

Bryony Young navigates the intersection of religious and secular themes, inviting contemplation of our reality's transcendental nature. The motif of the circle embodies singularity, divinity, and monadity, channelling the ineffable essence of existence into her work.

At the heart of the exhibit stands a monumental diptych oil painting, each stretching over 7 feet in length. Accompanied by four additional oil paintings, each standing at over 3 feet, these pieces serve as portals into her enigmatic world of transcendental abstraction.

A Transcendental Affair

120x120cm MDF wooden square canvas. Sickly bright green background with a large circle centered within the square. A deep blue orb fading to a light blue centre. A light pink line halos the circle.

The Seventh Mansion

A close-up pf a larger piece. Red background with a long steel blue and cyan line vertically, about a third of the way across the painting. To the left a part of an obscured large purple circle with a thin green halo outline.

The Dark Night

120x120cm MDF wooden square canvas. Organic shapes add texture to the underlayer of the painting spread across the canvas. Painted with dark green, cyan and steel blue tones, sanded back over the shapes to reveal the white underlayer to add depth+texture.
