Re-thinking the Necip Fazil refugee camp. Working towards a ‘Eudaimonia’, something that is accentuated by refugee behaviour, a design through people and place.

Adopting the notion of a Eudaimonia, this design project will promote a synthesised setting of homes and ‘capacity buildings’ in response to Turkish cultural heritage, traditions, values and the needs of the people. A capacity building - an establishment that “develops an all-important infrastructure that supports and shapes communities into forces for good. It enables areas to develop competencies and skills that can make them more effective and sustainable” underscoring the topic of neutrality.

Forming the ‘Eudaimonia’ for this thesis, there will be an integration of educational centres where work and life can coexist regarding cultural significance, where the domestic, social, and commercial are seamlessly intertwined. Production and learning through self and master led education, where experts in a certain industry can instruct and teach camp residents. As the camp aims to provide refuge for the people who struggle with PTSD or other mental health issues related to their displacement, it can become a harmonious setting that fosters health and well being, where they can seek gender-based or any related crime support.
