Matriculation for new and continuing students

Updated on 1 September 2023

Advice on how to matriculate for new and continuing students.

On this page

Matriculation is the word we use to describe the process of officially registering as a student.

New students

All new students are required to matriculate prior to the start of their course.

Continuing students

Continuing students are required to rematriculate each year in September, regardless of their start date. This is to allow continued use of University facilities, such as IT, and the Library.

Matriculation timeline

We will send you an email with information about matriculating online at the appropriate time ahead of your start date. Please be aware that this information will be sent to different students at different times - you will not necessarily receive emails on the same days as your friends, even if they are studying the same course as you.

eVision

Username or password reset

If you forget your eVision username of password, please refer to our guide on requesting a manual password reset.

If your eVision keeps timing out we would recommend trying a different browser. If you are still having issues, please contact help4u@dundee.ac.uk

My Matriculation task

The matriculation task is visible as a tile on eVision as well as from Main Menu on the left hand-side.

If you have studied at the University previously, please ensure you select the correct record from the drop down menu when you log into eVision.

Should you still be having issues contact studentrecords@dundee.ac.uk who will look into this further.

If you you are unable to complete matriculation task and the following message appears:

  • You will not be able to matriculate online. This is because you have an outstanding debt due to the University that needs to be paid before you can matriculate

Please contact cashoffice@dundee.ac.uk to check and make arrangements to pay your fees. We will contact you once you can proceed with the matriculation task.

If you are unable to complete the ‘last school attended’ field on the matriculation task as you can’t find your previous institution on the drop down list provided, this is not mandatory. Click on Continue to proceed to the next stage of the task. If you have entered something in the box and message states this is incorrect then please remove this and click on Continue.

Should it be the case that your last school was overseas, please enter 4931.

If you are unable to complete the Disability Section as it doesn’t list your specific condition, please select 'an impairment, health condition, or learning difference not listed above'.

Should you realise that you have selected the wrong disability option, send a request to studentrecords@dundee.ac.uk to amend this on your student record.

If you can’t update your address to continue and complete the matriculation task, please be aware that when adding your address you must select the relevant country code from the drop down list. All fields highlighted in pink are mandatory.

If you are staying in University accommodation, your address will be updated in due course by the University Residences team once you have booked into your accommodation.

Status

If your status if showing as 'CT', this means that you have successfully completed the matriculation task and are currently ‘temporary matriculated’. Once you have met with our Immigration team to have your documents checked your record will be updated to ‘Current’. Your temporary status will still provide you with access to University facilities. If you have any further queries regarding your visa documentation please contact immigrationcompliance@dundee.ac.uk

Updating an incorrect name

Before we can change your name on your student record, you will need to provide us with a copy of an official document such as your passport or driving licence, showing your full official name.  Please email your document to studentrecords@dundee.ac.uk and we will make the necessary changes to your record.
