Volunteer on the School Volunteering Programme
Updated on 19 June 2024
The School Volunteering Programme provides opportunities for students to volunteer in both primary and secondary schools in the Dundee City Council area.
Volunteering on the School Volunteering Programme provides a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a classroom setting. It also provides the opportunity to develop transferrable skills.
This partnership between the University of Dundee and Dundee City Council focuses on supporting school pupils whose first language is not English.
Opportunities to volunteer may also be available in other council areas such as Fife, Angus and Perth and Kinross.
Requirements
You don't need to speak a second language to volunteer for the programme. However, any additional language skills you have will be useful.
To volunteer, you must:
- be a matriculated student
- commit to 4 hours volunteering per week (one-half day) for a minimum of one school term in the school year
- commit to attending an in-person training session prior to the beginning of placements.
The School Volunteering Programme is now open for applications.
