CA52002

Neuroanatomy describes the structure and organization of the human nervous system. You will explore molecular mechanisms underlying brain development from a neurodevelopment perspective. The structure and organisation of the central nervous system will be considered as well as selected parts of the peripheral nervous system. Finally, you will investigate the pathophysiology of common disorders of the nervous system.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • discuss the structural and functional organisation of the central nervous system
  • describe the roles of some of the molecular cues involved in the development of the brain

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • relate the anatomy of the central nervous system to pathophysiological or pathological processes
  • communicate scientific ideas

Assignments / assessment

  • essay (15%)
  • seminar presentation (10%)
  • written and practical examinations (75%)

Teaching methods / timetable

  • lectures
  • practical classes
  • tutorials

Tutorials and practical classes will give you the opportunity to work with your peers in small groups.
