This module explores the role of human resource management. You will learn about:

  • enhancing managerial effectiveness
  • strategic success
  • organisational change

You will examine the relationship between organisational cultures and workplace behaviour. You will also critique contemporary HR theories. You will also discuss the impact of ICT on HR management.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • be introduced to managing human resources
  • explore the nature of management, leaders, and leadership, and their impact on human resources
  • learn about managing the individual–organisational relationship
  • study designing and managing organisations
  • examine the corporate context and managing human resources
  • explore managing human resources in an international context
  • discuss the knowledge and innovation context of managing human resources
  • explore the technological context and human resources
  • learn about managing organisational change

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • discuss the ideas for an effective human resources management in the extractive sector
  • apply key aspects of human resource management to organisational problems
  • implement human resource management techniques in a contextually sensitive manner
