Spend two semesters working on your most substantial project so far, ready to show the world what you can do. With our support, you'll define your own brief, manage your own project, and develop your own unique voice as a designer.

In this module, you will create your most substantial project so far, ready to show the world who you are and what you can do as a designer.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • craft a design brief about a subject that matters to you
  • research creatively to understand the people, issues, and opportunities for design in your chosen subject
  • prototype and test your ideas to find effective and unique concepts
     
  • use our specialist workshops to explore the materials, technologies, and techniques that you're interested in
  • create beautifully crafted final objects, spaces, services, or digital pieces
  • exhibit your final piece to the public and industry at our degree show
  • develop your voice as a designer

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • speak confidently to new and professional audiences about your work
  • effectively manage the design process from start to finish
  • enter the world of work or further study, with a strong centrepiece for your portfolio and professional skills

Assignments / assessment

Assessment is 100% by portfolio at the end of the module in May.

You submit a portfolio of prototypes, models, boards, booklets, and development work, and present your work to a panel of staff.

This module does not have a final exam
