This module will guide you through exploring what takes place in the context of an exhibition, both in terms of 'curating'—i.e. the technical process of producing an exhibition—and 'the curatorial'—i.e. the activity of producing new knowledge.

In this module, you can further your practice, knowledge, and experience by curating a public-facing group project. With support from professionals across art and design, you will gain skills and develop a curatorial 'toolkit' in project management, collaboration, audience engagement, fundraising, documentation, and installation while exploring the production process of your curatorial project.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • gain curatorial knowledge around your chosen exhibition topic and/or area of interest
  • plan and execute a public-facing curatorial project while working collaboratively and applying a range of production skills
  • develop creative responses to problems through teamwork, collaboration, and negotiation

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • understand the curatorial production process and the impact of social and cultural context upon curatorial practice and vice versa
