STEM is a cross-cutting module which deals with specific discrete curricular areas.

It will also demonstrate how commonalities connect to enhance learning and understanding.

This will cover skills development, language, knowledge, and understanding.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • explore the approaches to learning in STEM subjects separately
  • build upon and complement the generic approaches to teaching and learning in Pedagogical Studies (ED12013)
  • concentrate specifically on how these approaches can be developed in STEM
  • address subject knowledge in each of the curriculum areas and identify areas where development is required

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • show a detailed knowledge and understanding of the progression of key concepts across the STEM subjects
  • show a knowledge of skills development in key concepts in mathematics and science
  • critically reflect upon the transferable skills which have been identified within the STEM subjects
  • support your explanations, discussions and arguments. You will do so by drawing from and making reference to relevant academic and professional literature and sources
