GE32025
This module provides the opportunity to undertake fieldwork in a new environment and to develop skills in field research. You will design, undertake, and write-up a piece of research that is original to you. The module gives you the skills and confidence needed for your 4th year research dissertation. Currently, the field trip goes to Iceland, but in the past we have taken students to Spain and northwest Scotland.
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- extend your theoretical and practical knowledge of physical environments through advanced fieldwork
- gain experience in formulating a research project and the practical experience of undertaking a field-based research project
- develop higher-level field skills in observation, measurement, and reporting
- undertake group-based field work and student-led learning in an unfamiliar context
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- develop skills and abilities in fieldwork in a new context
- design, implement, and evaluate a research project
- work with a team of fellow students
gain experience dealing with an unfamiliar environment
