This module develops an understanding of the referral routes and the general factors implicated in help-seeking within mental health services. You will gain an understanding of the bio-psychosocial factors implicated in the onset, maintenance and resolution of common mental health disorders through studying the diagnostic classification systems and theory of case formulation in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This enables the selection of assessment strategies appropriate to the clinical setting and needs of people using services. You will also develop an awareness of the clinical features of complex, chronic and severe cases and when to refer such cases on to others.
