This module provides an opportunity for you to select a subject of your choice to explore and reflect on how it relates to nursing practice. This subject and its related activities will help prepare you to become a registered nurse capable of playing a key role in improving and maintaining the health and well-being of people, families, communities, and populations.
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- understand the concepts of personal ‘health’ and ‘well-being’
- apply the principles of health promotion
- learn about team-working, inter-professional working, and shared decision-making
- identify your own learning needs and outcomes
- develop skills in reflective practice and evidence-based practice
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- identify environmental and social factors that contribute to inequalities in health outcomes
- describe the impact of life choices on mental, physical, and behavioural health and well-being in the context of people’s individual circumstances
- list your own learning needs in relation to a specific activity
- identify key attributes of effective teamwork and shared decision-making
- recall information in an accessible way to help people to understand and make decisions about their health and well-being
- describe the relationship between theory and its application in practice, with reference to the NMC Code
