This module will explore the concept of care within adult social services and social work practice. It will focus on ideas such as the protection of rights. Also, on the value of relationships, support for resilience, reflective use of self, and views of the social work role in diverse contexts.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • consider and explore different perspectives of the concept of care
  • explore examples from specific fields. These fields include Adult Protection, Adult Care Services, Mental Health Services, Substance Misuse Services, and Residential Care Services.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • have a critical awareness of social work skills, knowledge, and values in Scotland
  • appreciate shared and distinctive global themes that affect local and cross border practice
  • appreciate concepts of care, professional social work practice, rights, relationships, and resilience
  • improved my communication and confidence. You will achieve this through reflection, reading, debate, and exposure to diverse views and approaches.
