Biography

Dr Dila Kulturel is a Lecturer in Marketing within the Management and Marketing discipline at the University of Dundee School of Business (UDBS). She is currently the Undergraduate Assessment Lead for Management and Marketing, and Academic Mentor for the Marketing Society.

She holds a Doctorate (Management) and Master of Science (Global Marketing) degree from the University of York, UK, along with a Bachelor of Science (Management) from Bilkent University, Turkey.

Dila’s academic focus is sustainability, communication, digital marketing, and consumer engagement. Her fully-funded PhD research delved into exploring sustainability marketing and social media strategies of food multinationals. Her academic experience includes prior positions at the University of York and Fordham University London. Dila also has experience working as an audit consultant on business and finance projects.

Research

Dr Dila Kulturel’s research explores how consumers engage with brands using technology. Under this theme, her works focus on a variety of topics such as:

  • Sustainability communication on social media 
  • Cross-country user engagement 
  • Digital marketing of food brands

She is currently engaged in retargeting strategies on sustainability after extreme behaviours against brands and exploring online falsehoods on sustainability. Her research investigates the future of brand-consumer engagement and also contributes to fostering informed decision-making and driving positive sustainable change in the digital era.

Teaching

Dila is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is currently teaching the following modules:
