The Impact and Engagement team are here to support and record research impact in all its forms.
What is impact?
For the purposes of the Research Excellence Framework, impact is defined as an effect on, change or benefit to the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment or quality of life, beyond academia:
- Artistic and creative
- Health outcomes
- Economic or commercial
- Environmental
- Policy Change
- Societal
- Technological
What we do
Impact planning
Supporting researchers to plan for impact throughout the lifecycle of research, and to recognise and record the evidence of impact in all its forms.
Impact systems
Development of systems and processes to support the capture of impact evidence and build institutional 'memory' of impact.
Impact capacity and knowledge
Establishing a network of Impact Champions, delivery of training to build skills and knowledge.
Impact case studies
Identification and development of impact case studies (for REF, Scottish Funding Council).
Public engagement
High quality public engagement leads to impact. We are involved in:
- Developing our public engagement strategy and applying for the NCCPE Engage Watermark
- Supporting our public engagement community
- Training and development opportunities
- Reward and recognition
