In her talk, ‘Inspiring Inclusion – Transforming Lives’, Amanda will share some of her insights, drawn from her lived experience and varied career to date, offering reflections on an intersectional life.

Amanda was the first open member of the LGBTQ+ community to be President of the Law Society of Scotland.

Amanda said, “International Women’s Day is a dedicated opportunity for everyone to reflect, share and learn from experiences. I am looking forward to speaking, listening and hopefully contributing to ‘Inspiring Inclusion’.”

The event will be moderated by Mhairi Taylor, the University’s Deputy Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Attendees can anticipate a blend of real-world examples and thoughts on why inclusion matters. There will also be an opportunity to contribute.

The event has been organised by the University’s Institutional Athena Swan SAT (Self-Assessment Team), in collaboration with the Public Engagement team.

‘Inspiring Inclusion – Transforming Lives’ is a public event, open to staff, students and the wider community. It is free to attend.

It takes place from 15:30 to 17:00 on Friday 8 March, in the Dalhousie Building (Lecture Theatre 4). Refreshments will follow in the Dalhousie Foyer.
