Arriving in a new city can be an overwhelming experience. Here’s how to handle it with ease and enjoy the heck of it:

So, you have arrived. Now what?
Arriving in a new city can be an overwhelming experience. Here’s how to handle it with ease and enjoy the heck of it:
1. Don’t stay in your room
Sitting on a chair and staring into the wall is a recipe for homesickness. Get out!
2. Familiarize yourself with the campus
The University of Dundee (UoD) city campus is compact, with everything easily within reach. However, first, you need to know what’s where. Once your course starts, the staff will show you around a bit, but why not get a jumpstart on your own?
3. Take a walk through the city centre
It is some five minutes from the campus, so you can manage it all in one go. In the downtown, you can check out multiple class galleries and museums, such as the VA
While in the downtown, chill out in one of the coffee shops. My favourite is the Blend Coffee Lounge, but there are many others to pick.
4. Visit the Botanical garden
Take a break from the concrete corridors in a natural oasis, just above the Dundee Airport. You can chat with a member of staff and learn something new, or just relax in a pleasant environment. As a UoD student, you get free entry.

5. Get up the Law
This extinct volcano offers a fabulous 360-degree view on Dundee. It is about 20 minutes walk from the campus.

6. Socialize!
Perhaps the most important of it all. Find some like-minded people to share the fun with. Whether it is a tightrope-walking session in a park, or a techno party in an old warehouse, there’s something for everybody.
