About you

We are looking for someone with a commitment to high quality impactful implementation science research and teaching excellence. You will have a real passion for research and be motivated to provide the very best experience for our students. We are open to any health disciplinary background that would build upon or complement current strengths. You may be a registered health professional or researcher currently working in a clinical area, education or research. You should be educated to PhD level and demonstrate interest and success in education and research. Candidates should have an interest in interdisciplinary approaches and will be building/have an established track record of obtaining funding for research, depending on level of appointment.

About the role

You will join our Implementation and Improvement Research group (IIMPRES). You will be expected to undertake high quality research aligned with our Schools primary research themes:

  • Understanding health: exploring people's experience of health and the challenges of providing equitable healthcare
  • Innovation in health: developing and testing interventions that contribute to positive health outcomes for all
  • Improving health service delivery: design for practice change, quality and safety, equity, service improvement and evidence implementation.

We welcome applications from people who meet the essential criteria and are particularly interested in applicants with applied health sciences research expertise and experience, specifically in relation to implementation science.

The post will have both teaching (notionally 60% time) and research (notionally 40% time) responsibilities. Your teaching activities will be focused on contributing to our pre- registration nursing and our postgraduate programmes, particularly contributing to the MSc Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, our leadership programmes, public health and the core curriculum of our MSc framework.

Key components of the role include:

    • Collaborative research including preparing grant applications, undertaking research and producing publications
    • Supervising postgraduate students
    • Learning, teaching and assessment
    • Providing student support
    • Other high quality research and engagement activities

The School has campuses in Dundee and Kirkcaldy. The successful candidate can negotiate which of these would be their base, to ease travel and family commitments.
