About Festival of the Future

On this page

We have lots on offer for families and all ages including workshops, exhibitions, talks, walks and performances.

The festival celebrates how science, art and culture can inspire in equal measure, and how creative collaborations can help change our lives for the better. Marking the 75th anniversary of the National Health Service, this year’s festival will explore the theme of ‘care’.

During the festival, we will explore a more caring and sustainable way of living and working. Whether that be through activities that offer the opportunity for self-care, through exploring advances in health care in the past, present and future, or delving into our commitments to caring for nature and our environment. We will explore how we are delivering positive social impacts through our research and education.

As well as our events and activities there will be free access for all to the Botanic Garden from 11– 15 October where you can enjoy a wander amongst its wide range of plants, with fine collections of conifers and broad-leaved trees and shrubs, tropical and temperate glasshouses, water garden and herb garden.

Our Over the Garden Wall promenade performance experience at Dundee Botanic Garden takes a break in 2023 and is set to return in 2024! We will however celebrate together on Saturday 14 October and more information will follow soon.

It's going to be a full-on fun festival this year and we are very much looking forward to seeing you there!
