About

Profile photo of Abby Webster

A huge element within my work is playfulness. As important as the functionality of a piece of design is, what inspires me is creating something that is an experience for the user, and I find myself repeatedly making work that is tactile and has a tangible element. I am drawn to work that is vibrant and exciting and as a problem solver I utilise dynamic ways to elevate pieces from purely functional design to things with interesting formats, layers and textures that connect with an audience.

‘Mither Tongue’ is a response to the ISTD ‘Linguistic Hybridity’ brief. The publication explores various aspects of the Doric dialect spoken in the north east of Scotland through both a historical / fact based and personal lens.

Onnit

Onnit is a cider brand created in response to the 2024 Hatch Brief. The visual identity and story of the brand is a verging on satirical nod to Scotland's youth drinking culture, and uses vivid abstracted imagery and playful hand drawn typographic elements to encourage a more mature audience to re-engage and reminisce on their nostalgic memories of adolescence and sweet fruity cider.
