My work focuses primarily on telling stories with images in a whimsical and magical style.

About

Illustrative portrait of Anna Howey

As an illustrator, I love to take inspiration from folklore and mythology. This year I have delved into visual storytelling of the worlds of fairies and Greek myths both digitally and traditionally. I don't like to limit myself when it comes to art so I explore many different mediums I can work in like gouache, risograph and other ways I can apply digital. Whilst indulging myself in my interests this year I can also adapt to different briefs and create a large variety of work.

Pandora's Box

A drawing of a woman sitting on a chair holding a pithos close to her. She is framed by curtains with a hand pulling one back. It is a moonlit scene with the moon directly above her. In the background there are two pillars and foliage.

This illustration is from a trio of images that would fit within an illustrated book about Greek Mythology. It follows the story of Pandora from her creation until the moment she opens all that is bad into the world.

Children's Book Illustration

A painting of two fairies at night. The one on the right is under a leaf and wears a white dress. The one on the left is flying over a bush and bluebells and wears a pink fuschia flower dress.

This children's book spread is from the story 'Where the Fairy Rings Grow'. It follows a group of fairies who dance on the most magical night of the year and create a toadstool ring. It's filled with whimsy, lots of fairy dust and so many fairies.

V&A x DJCAD collaboration

A drawing of a girl in a HEIHEI tartan dress. The dress has a radiating heart motif. She wears a blue sporran and legwarmers that are inspired by kilt socks. Around the girl is a border of pink hearts with blue ones in the corners.

A 2D response to a collaboration between the V&A and DJCAD. It of a Harajuku girl who is wearing HEIHEI clothing and Scottish inspired accessories. She a combination of both the Japanese love for tartan and fashion and Scotland's own iconic pieces of clothing.
