About

Harry Grove

Harry is a Scottish-French picture-maker from Glasgow. With idea-communication central in his practice, he creates simple pictures with thick, black calligraphic lines. Frequently using a combination of brushes and ink and digital techniques, he applies his versatile image-making to a range of subjects and forms – from spot illustrations to football scarves.

Often inspired by identity and nostalgia, he is fascinated by language, community, people and places… and of course, Scottish football.

He creates playful pictures that reflect his influence from francophone bandes dessinées and Scottish identities. In his visual language he aims to make cultural references whilst avoiding potential language barriers. As a bilingual European illustrator, he has worked in Scotland and France and has also exhibited work in Germany and Italy, where his work was selected for the 18th Edition of the Tapirulan Illustrators contest, TILT.
