A hotel that sends you to sleep

About

Madeleine Dreze

Snooze Scape is an independent hotel designed to help you fall asleep. Prioritising good sleep hygiene, as well as taking into consideration differing Circadian Cycles, Snooze Scape creates an environment fit for all types of sleepers.

The first three floors of the hotel are focused on the ‘Night Owl’ sleepers. These people have a later Circadian Cycle and, therefore, prefer to go to sleep later at night and wake up later in the morning. As a result, the lower levels consist of more communal zones. These areas allow guests to socialise and gives them spaces to occupy during the hours of darkness, instead of spending time alone in their rooms.

The upper levels, from the fourth to sixth floors, are designed for the ‘Early Birds’. In contrast to the ‘Night Owls’, the ‘Early Birds’ Circadian Cycle is shifted earlier. They prefer to go to bed earlier in the evening and get up in the early morning. These floors are catered to them as they provide ‘Secluded Hubs’, areas that guests can go to help them wind down. These zones provide a space out with their bedroom, away from the activity of the hotel.

Finally, the upper most level on the roof holds a bar. This bar is designed to be a space for either socialising or spending time alone. Closing in the early evening, as to not disturb the ‘Early Bird’ guests, the bar provides sheltered seating pods as well as open table areas. This bar is designed with all types of sleepers and guests in mind.
