Sense of Self

‘Sense of Self’ is an app designed by and for Autistic and neurodivergent young adults to learn about their sensory capabilities and coping mechanisms in a private mobile safe space.

It utilizes a 3-step feedback loop of a short set of yes/no onboarding questions, a researched and neurodivergent-approved guided exercise, and a simple reflective section. Each cycle of the feedback loop creates a ‘diary entry’ that the person can look back on and document that certain cycle. Over time, the diary displays a record of all entries within the app and the symbolic journey that person goes on to improve their acceptance of who they are and what they’re capable of doing.

The app adapts to both the person’s sensory habits and the exercises they use within the app - this means that the app would recommend exercises that the person thinks are effective and enjoyable, and questions using exercises that it knows don’t work for that individual.

There are no commitments to the app. No notifications. It is a safe space to be sought out only when the person feels they need it most, for whatever reason.
