About

black and white photograph of Rose Dean

Currently I have found that I prefer working less in the digital realm and instead taking inspiration from hand crafted processes. In my opinion the tactility of a piece of work creates another dimension and feels more connected with the viewer. I feel my works crossing the boundaries between graphic design and fine art. I focus on more thoughtful and critical design. I also have a keen interest in film and photography as well as installation design.

ISTD-A Nation of Shopkeepers

This response to the ISTD brief “Death of the centre” focuses on creating an informative yet personal view of the city centre, particularly Dundee’s city centre. It aims to re-engage its audience by both recalling the evolution of the centre in an educative, historical context while also making reference to the more personal, nostalgic aspects.

The publication is an ode to the city centre, referencing its decline as though it was the talking of passing of a dear friend. The publication acts partially as a memory book or scrap book, filled with artefacts and memories from the lifetime of Dundee’s city centre.

Personal-Perhaps the World Ends Here

“Perhaps the world ends here” is a personal project, using inspiration from the poem by Joy Harjo. This projects looks at the intricacies and evolution of human life, all set around a table.

The tactility of this design evokes a more personal feel, allowing the audience to relate the piece to their own experiences
