Photographic, film and audio collages exploring identity through family archives.

About

This body of work is an abstract approach to family archives, creating an interdisciplinary collage within the exhibition. Investigating the emotional catharsis of the self through inherited features such as objects, photographs, interests, and traits such as music, conversation, and humour. Using these elements to find connection with family both past and present to further understand herself through these components and how these inform her identity. This has been achieved through the lens and focus of touch through the hands contained within family photographs. Evoking the fragmented nature of memory and relationships, this spans across the audio and moving image pieces due to their disjointed nature and combination of overlapping features. The amateur approach to the moving image is to bring to mind this division and emulate a home video, while displaying the realism of the family home, this is also achieved through the raw sound work.
