Fine Art BA (Hons)

Creating work, inspired by collage, incorporating sculpture and projection that explores the relationship between ourselves and the space we occupy.

About

Beth Nettleship

Influenced by the everyday spaces we occupy, finding the familiar in the unfamiliar. Sculpted elements stand in an open collage inviting viewers to walk through the space, encouraging a playful curiosity. Interaction which will be unique to them, its these resulting diverse perspectives that drive the work.

Layering still and moving images, places and spaces are formed through a kaleidoscopic approach achieved with projection mapping.

The sculptures are engraved with graffiti referenced from the urban setting, marks people have left behind, evidencing their presence. Sound enhances the immersive experience, and the audience actively shapes the visual.

I enjoy learning new skills and exploring different ways of making art. In particular I will continue to explore the use of laser cutting and digital software to expand my process-based practise.
