Fools & Foes is a cosy app designed to encourage new players to dabble in Dungeons and Dragons and enjoy role-playing without feeling overwhelmed. The goal is that it:

  • feels like a board game interacting with physical pieces and face-to-face play;
  • functions like a D&D Character sheet with all information available at a glance;
  • looks and behaves like a mobile game with an intuitive interface.

It is a facilitation tool that takes away the hassle of boring things (like keeping track of resources) and lets you focus on what truly matters - human interaction and creativity. It does not aim to replace the interactions with digital ones.

The main feature is a functional "Take Action" menu that allows players to easily choose how they want to play their turn. It is bright, colourful and engaging, and it has the potential to grow to be more representative of the D&D Community beyond play sessions.

Immersive play

On a table, there is a game board made of hexagon pieces. There are several figurines a dragon as well as a couple of other enemies all in red. The players are in the foreground with a raised staff bracing for battle.

One of the best parts of Dungeons and Dragons is Immersion it offers. The app comes with a custom tileset of hexagon pieces that coand be changed and customized to give players a physical sense of space and character interactions through their figurines.

Choose your weapon! You are ready for a fight and you are ready to choose how you want to go about it.

The app allows players to choose what action they want to take using a simple multiple choice menu and automatically updates the resources used.

Screen Mockups

The app has a coherent visual style and custom design components that tie it together. The mock up shows most of the screens that players would be interacting with.
