About

photograph of Ekaterina Tommie

My weapon of choice is a paintbrush. Throughout all projects, I aim to maintain a textural, vibrant energy, usually with gouache. In my 4th year at DJCAD, I discovered the wonders of ceramics and playing with clay. I have become enthralled with painting on ceramics and the wonderfully delicate images I can make. As well as learning traditional ceramic processes, such as throwing and hand-building.

I love painting the fantastical and whimsical. Storytelling and narrative are the foundations of some of my favourite projects. I enjoy making comics and exploring movement, especially since outside of Illustration I am an avid aerialist. I have loved incorporating aerial into my work and will be continuing to experiment with this imagery in future.

Contortionist Plate

DJCADxV&A Tartan Scarf

Imagine of a person holding a square scarf. On the scarf is painted tartan fields with sheep, tractors, wind turbines, and a castle.

Based on the V&A Tartan exhibition, this scarf was inspired by the Scottish lowlands and the grids of the countryside.
