About

My current body of work revolves around impulsive mark-making and freely expressing movement through shapes and marks. Through pure impulse, I apply gestural marks on the surface, following an automatic approach to painting. Typically, I work on large-scale surfaces which are mostly re-used or recycled materials, as well as traditional canvas. By using second-hand materials, i receive a varied outcome with every painting which creates a positive impact on my learning as an artist. Physical movement and interaction play a huge role within my artist practice while creating. Physically moving while creating a large-scale piece and giving my full attention and involvement allows me to be more in touch with the pieces I am creating at the time. I feel this reflects my active energy straight onto the piece. My practice is unrestricted by traditional notions of paint as a medium, allowing for an experimental approach using a variety of paint types and techniques through the piece.
