Nathan Barbour

As a storyboard artist, my main film was Astray, which I helped develop multiple scenes for and adapted them as the films story continued to evolve. This helped generate several concepts for the film which would make their way into the final, such as the scary forest scene and the Dads waiting at the end. My side project was Wishing Star, a personal film about a Doll wanting to explore their crafted cosmos, who comes in contact with a selfish Shooting Star who refuses to grant their wish. I had a lot of fun developing this story and the visual language in it.

As for compositing, I helped develop the final look for Astray, recreating the painterly style and saving us from shading the animation itself, and did the majority of composition for the film, and was able to assist my peers in the final stretch to recreate the look. I was also able to assist other films such as TV Dinner and Hero Spirit with their composition. What I love about compositing is being able to bring together the concepts, ideas and work from others and turn it into a final product. Its a rewarding experience I'm looking forward to develop in the future within the industry.
