Teaching and assessment for Childhood Practice BA

We know that your academic experience may be limited on entering this course, and so we tailor your learning and assignments to reflect this.

You are encouraged to reflect on your learning in relation to theory and apply your new knowledge and understanding to your practice at work.

We use a range of teaching approaches such as:

• online study materials
• discussion forums
• webinars
• email communications

The majority of our resources are available online, reducing the need for you to buy or borrow a large number of books. You will have a personal Advisor of Studies to support you through your studies.

You may be assessed in the following ways:

• reflective and critical essays
• case studies and scenarios
• audits of practice
• poster presentations

There is one main assessment per module in the form of a written assignment. You also need to provide evidence of work-based learning. You will be supported in developing your academic writing skills throughout the programme by regular skills sessions, individual feedback and support from tutors and access to support from the Academic Skills Centre.

Support

You will be assigned an Adviser of Studies to help support you through your studies. You will also have access to support from to the University of Dundee Support Services and your fellow students via online discussion forums and social media.
