This module explores the basics of manufacturing and turning raw materials into a final product.

Mechanical and biomedical engineering involves designing and analysing machines and machine parts.

This module will introduce you to these essential core skills, which are needed when designing manufacturing technologies, cars, airplanes, wind turbines, and medical devices.

You will learn about the way systems behave.

You will also learn about the principles of control and dynamical systems. This will give you a comprehensive understanding of the different aspects of multi-parameter systems and automatic control systems.

This is a core level 3 module of the BEng in Mechanical Engineering degree. This combines both a Career Management and an Enterprise theme. These themes will give you a real insight into the role of a Professional Engineer and the varied graduate pathways available.

The Solid Mechanics module is designed to provide students with practical and theoretical background of obtaining stresses and deformations in mechanical parts due to various loading scenarios including internal pressure, rotation, and torsion.

This module explores the design and analysis of parts and systems, unleashing your creativity and problem-solving skills to design innovative solutions to real-world problems.

Computer aided engineering is widely used in industry for prototyping and product development.

You will work with computer software to simulate real engineering systems and solve real-world problems, such as the design of concept vehicles and wind turbines.

This module builds on the foundations established in ME32001, developing and expanding your understanding of fluid mechanics principles and their application, as well as introducing a number of advanced topics.

Robotics and mechatronics are areas where engineering meets innovation. This module explores how to design, analyse, and control robots.

It will also equip you with the knowledge and skills to build machines that can think and act.

This module extends your knowledge on elementary theories, particularly geometry and mechanical and structural systems. It also covers a wide range of engineering materials and how their properties can be tailored and influenced by composition and processing.

The Honours Year Project module is an exciting opportunity for students to gain experience in planning, organising, and carrying out an independent practical project in one area of engineering.
